This powerline runs from Luebeck - Herrenwyk (Germany) to Arrie - Kruseborg (Sweden). It is a 450 kV
monopolar HVDC line, which consists of a 250 km long submarine and underground cable and a 12 km lomg overhead
line section (the overhead line section is in Sweden only). On the overhead line section both
conductors are permanently set parallel. The earth return is performed via an underground cable. The electrodes for earth return are in the Baltic sea. Picture by Harald Lutz. |
